Year-round profile
How New York scores, dimension by dimension
Calmbalanced · 51Why
You can find tranquility in the gardens of the Met Cloisters or by wandering Roosevelt Island, but central areas like Times Square and most major attractions always have crowds and a lot of noise.
Adventurebalanced · 48Why
If you are seeking outdoor adventure, there are many hiking trails in Central Park or just outside the city, like Breakneck Ridge and Harriman State Park, which are easily accessible by public transport for a day trip.
Naturelight · 36Why
Intense light pollution makes serious stargazing nearly impossible, and there are no Blue Flag certified beaches, so for a real nature feel, head to the Greenbelt on Staten Island or plan a day trip to Bear Mountain.
Foodvery strong · 83Why
The food scene is diverse and excellent, from Michelin-starred restaurants across Manhattan to a high density of specialty coffee shops and excellent vegan options in neighborhoods like the East Village.
Sportstrong · 55Why
Staying active is easy with many yoga studios in neighborhoods like Flatiron or the Upper West Side, and walking trails along the Hudson River Greenway or within Central Park.
Culturevery strong · 79Why
The city will culturally inspire you with world-class museums like the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the MoMA, and a rich history visible around every corner.
Socialvery strong · 94Why
It is easy to meet people, especially through the intense nightlife scene in areas like the Lower East Side or West Village, or at the many coworking spaces scattered across Manhattan.
Familybalanced · 49Why
The city offers many family-friendly activities and most tourist areas are safe, but the daily intensity and lack of internationally certified beaches can be a limit.
Romancevery strong · 88Why
For couples, the city offers experiences like dining in Michelin-starred restaurants, sunset strolls across the Brooklyn Bridge, or panoramic views from the Top of the Rock.
Productivityvery strong · 77Why
You can work well here with very fast internet and a very high number of coworking spaces like WeWork or The Commons available in central and residential neighborhoods.
Valuequiet · 9Why
You will get little for your money in New York, as hotel prices are consistently high, often averaging between $336 and $445 per night, and the overall cost of living is very high.
Safetystrong · 58Why
You will feel comfortable and safe here, as New York is one of America's safest large cities, particularly in tourist areas, though awareness in crowded spots is always a good idea.
Weatherstrong · 58Why
The climate suits you best in late spring and early fall, with mild temperatures and mostly clear skies, which are perfect for outdoor activities.
Beautyvery strong · 100Why
You will find beauty in the numerous public viewpoints and panoramas, such as those from Top of the Rock, the Empire State Building, or The Edge observation deck, which offer expansive city perspectives.
