  • Symbolic Start of Fasching Season

November 11 marks the traditional, symbolic start of the Fasching (carnival) season in Munich at 11:11 AM. While official festivities begin, major street carnival celebrations, large crowds, and associated road closures typically occur later in the season (e.g., in February and March). The opening event at Viktualienmarkt is expected to draw some crowds, but it is not a large-scale street festival.

Times and prices change, so check with the organiser before you go. Updated 21 Oct
