All Saints' Day (Allerheiligen) — Public Holiday
All Saints' Day is a public holiday in Austria, falling on a Sunday in 2026. Most shops and offices will be closed. It is a day for Christians to commemorate all saints. Many families visit cemeteries to decorate the graves of their loved ones with flowers and candles. Private car access to cemeteries is not possible on this day due to high visitor numbers, and the E-bus service at Zentralfriedhof will also not operate. Bakeries traditionally sell 'Allerheiligenstriezel,' a braided sweet bread.
