  • All Saints' Day (Mindenszentek) – Public Holiday

    All Saints' Day is a public holiday in Hungary. As it falls on a Sunday in 2026, there is no additional day off. Most shops and offices are expected to be closed. Families traditionally visit cemeteries to commemorate their deceased loved ones, lighting candles and placing flowers.

  • All Souls' Day Period – Cemetery Visits and Traffic Arrangements

    During the All Saints' and All Souls' period, Zalaegerszeg's central cemeteries (Göcseji úti and Új temető) will have extended visiting hours, typically from 6:00 to 20:00. Traffic arrangements will be in place around the Új temető (New Cemetery), with one-way traffic on Ságodi út towards Kaszaházi út from October 31st to November 3rd, between 9:00 and 22:00. Vehicle entry into the New Cemetery is restricted to those with permits and disabled badges. Police and civil guards will assist visitors and patrol for safety.

  • Fények Falva (Village of Lights)

    24 Oct 2026 – 1 Feb 2027Göcseji Falumúzeum / Zalaegerszeg Skanzen

    The Göcseji Falumúzeum transforms into a unique light park, combining traditional village atmosphere with light art. Open daily from 17:00 to 21:00, with an admission fee (tickets available online). Closed on December 24-25 and December 31. This event runs through the Halloween period, offering an illuminated experience.
